Loved the vada pav, pav bhaji and misal pav. I would come back for the vada pav, probably the best in the Bay Area.

I was here with extended family for lunch. My first time here and being a Puneri I was curious. The ambience gives a maharashtrian vibe with the posters of RaniLaxmiBai, Jijamaata, the warli painting, the sketches of pandhari varkari... All that felt nostalgic. The menu card was interesting as it reminded olden days of letters that used to travel across kingdoms. It's a vast menu with appetizers, soups and salads, vegetarian, non-vegetarian and fish items specially coming from Maharashtrian cuisine as well as Malvan/Konkan side of flavors too. I started with sol kadi for a drink, others ordered beer called beera, appetizers we ordered kande bhaji and kothimbirichi vadi - both were very tasty. To be easy we ordered thali - mutton and chicken. The thali comes with rassa which comes from the meat that you chose (chicken or mutton), one veg sabzi on the sides, buttermilk, koshimbir, loncha, papad, chicken/ mutton curry , poli, fresh salad, kothimbir vadi, rice and shrikhand as dessert. It's a complete meal as you can see and was very filling by the time we finished eating shrikhand. If you pay in cash you do get a 5% discount as well. Overall, a great experience. The servers wear an orange vest which reminds you of stories from Shivaji's Darbar , the one thing missing was the topi . I enjoyed it and will definitely want to try other items from their menu. It is spicy so if you love spicy food then you must try and more spicier one is if it's Kolhapuri cuisine. I will recommend it as this is for vegetarians and meat lovers too. They do have a kids menu as well.

Swaraj is more than just a food truck; it's a culinary journey through the vibrant and diverse flavors of Maharashtra. Whether you're a seasoned fan of Maharashtrian cuisine or a newcomer eager to explore, this place is a must-visit. I left with a satisfied palate and a newfound appreciation for the rich culinary heritage of Maharashtra. Some my favorites dishes are: **Vadapav: A quintessential street food delicacy elevated to perfection. The vada was crispy, the pav soft, and the chutneys brought the right balance of spice. It's an absolute must-try for anyone seeking the true essence of Mumbai street food. **Kolhapuri Chicken (spicy): For spice lovers, the Kolhapuri Chicken is a fiery delight. The aromatic blend of spices in the Kolhapuri masala elevated the dish to new heights. The tender chicken absorbed the flavors beautifully, making it a standout on the menu. **Missal Pav (spicy): Swaraj's take on the classic Missal Pav is a flavor-packed adventure. The spicy misal, accompanied by the soft pav and topped with the delightful crunch of farsan, was a symphony of textures and tastes. **Bread Pattice (oily): The Bread Pattice, though a tad oily, was a nostalgic journey for the palate. The crispy exterior gave way to a delicious filling, making it a guilty pleasure that I couldn't resist. **Dahi Puri: A burst of flavors in every bite, the Dahi Puri was a refreshing and delightful addition to the meal. The balance of sweet, spicy, and tangy flavors made it a perfect palate cleanser. There staff's recommendations and attentiveness added to the overall positive dining experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Swaraj India to anyone looking for an authentic and delicious spicy Maharashtrian dining experience.

Vada pav- 5/5, delicious! I give it a 5 because the chutneys are spicy and so good Pani puri- 2/5, I wouldn't get this again. The Chana is not good and not typical Chana eaten with pani puri, it's in a yellow daal and is hot and just doesn't go with the pani puri. Pani itself is okay. Also didn't come with meeta chutney until I asked for it, and when I got it it wasn't good.

Best Maharashtrian place in san jose Had a delightful dinner at this place! The Kothimbir vadi as starters was decent, but the main course stole the show! The Malvani chicken and Tava chicken with chapati were mouthwateringly delicious, and the Pav-Bhaji was simply divine. For desserts, the Anjir kulfi and basundi were a perfect ending to the meal. Special thanks to Bhalbir for the excellent service and assistance throughout! Highly recommend this restaurant for a flavorful experience.

"I wanted to share my feedback on my recent experience at this Maharashtrian restaurant. Firstly, I was impressed with the location and found the prices to be reasonable, which made it a great value for money. The ambiance was fantastic, especially with the option to sit outside and enjoy the lovely lights. Now, let's talk about the food. The Maharashtrian cuisine served here is undoubtedly the best I have tasted. The signature dish pav bhaji was simply epic and packed with flavor. Additionally, I tried both the mutton and chicken Kholapuri curry, and both were equally delicious choices. Overall, I had a fantastic experience and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic and tasty Maharashtrian food."
